POLICEMEN KILL TWO DURING ROBBERY ATTACK ON PETROL STATION IN BENIN

The Operatives of the Edo State Police Command on Sunday shot to death two armed robbers who specializes in attacking and robbing filling stations in Binin city.

The armed robbers were killed during a gun battle with the police in Benin City, capital of Edo State on Sunday.

According to the police, the suspects stormed Rubec Oil and Gas Station located off Murtala Mohamed way Benin City and robbed it. 

It was learned that after attacking the station, they headed to another location where they engaged the police in a heavy gun duel before they were overpowered by the police team.

The command’s Spokesperson, Mr Chidi Nwanbor, a Superintendent of Police, confirmed the incident.

Age said that other members of the gang escaped with bullet wounds.

According to him, the police received information that armed robbers had invaded Rubec Oil and Gas Station located off Murtala Mohamed way Benin City.

It was gathered that the police and the vigilante group mobilised immediately to the scene and discovered that they had moved to another location.

He said the security team trailed the robbers to their location and on sighting the security team, the robbers opened fire on the police leading to the exchange of the gun battle.

“In the process, two of the armed robbers were killed while others escaped with various degrees of bullet injuries,” he said in a statement.

He stated that the police took the suspects to the Police Cottage Hospital where doctors confirmed them dead.
