The Nasarawa State Police Command has confirmed the abduction of the Nasarawa State Commissioner for Information, Culture, and Tourism, Yakubu Lawal, on Monday night.
According to the Nasarawa State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ramhan Nansel, a search and rescue operation has started.
He said that a combined team, led by Area Commander, Akwanga Area Command, ACP Halliru Aliyu, is on duty to rescue the victim unhurt and arrest the perpetrators.
“The Commissioner of Police, Adesina Soyemi, has called on anyone with useful information that will assist the command to rescue the victim or arrest of the suspects to reach out to the command,” Nansel, stated.
Terrorists kidnapped the State Commissioner for Information, Culture, and Tourism, Yakubu Lawal, while he was in his house in Nasarawa Eggon, on Monday night.
It would be noted that terrorists had a few days ago invaded the Nasarawa Eggon Government Science Secondary School and killed a teacher, Auta Masala.
The Network gathered that Lawal was kidnapped by over 10 gunmen at his residence in the headquarters of Nasarawa Eggon Local Government Area of the state at about 9:45 p.m.
According to a family member, the gunmen whisked him away on their motorcycles
It was gathered that, the gunmen started shooting sporadically in the neighbourhood, causing panic in the area, before escaping with their target.
