POLICE ARREST RAIL LINE VANDALS IN OYO STATE

The men of the Oyo State Command of the Nigerian Police have arrested some vandals who deal in the same of rail road clips.

The Police Public Relations Offucer in charge of the Oyo State Command, Mr Adewale Osifeso said in a statement on Monday that suspects were caught while vandalizing rail infrastructure at Ile-Esho Area, Omi-Adio in Ido Local Government Area of the State.

He said that they were picked up by the men of Command attached to Omi-Adio Divisional Police Headquarters after intelligence was received on their nefarious activities.

According to him, the police recovered ‘ thirty-Four Pandrol Clips/Railroad clips, One Fish plate, One Hacksaw and
and a Damaged Railpot’ from the hoodlums.

He said, “In a sustained effort to rid Oyo State off criminal elements and as well secure its critical assets and infrastructure, the dragnet of the Oyo State Police Command on Friday 18/02/2022 caught up with suspected vandals specialized in the criminal trade of harvesting and selling Pandrol (Railroad) clips.

“The suspects; Ibrahim Saidu ‘m’ age 20yrs and his accomplice, Muritala Abdulahi ‘m’ age 30yrs were caught and arrested on Friday 18/02/2022 at about 1830hrs in the act of vandalizing Rail infrastructure at Ile-Esho Area, Omi-Adio in Ido Local Government Area following intelligence driven surveillance by Command Operatives attached to Omi-Adio Divisional Police Headquarters.

“The suspects have confessed to the crime and are cooperating with ongoing investigations tailored at apprehending their entire criminal network.

“Lastly, the Commissioner of Police enjoins the citizenry to be unrelenting in the provision of credible and timely information, capable of nipping crime in the bud at all times.”
