Police Arrest Four Suspected Gun Runners In Benue, Recover 300 Rounds of Ammunition.

The Benue State Police Command, on Thursday, arrested four suspected gun runners in the state and recovered 300 ammunition.

The suspects who were arrested at different locations in the state, were identified asTerhide Iordye, Emanuel Kuhwa, Ikyor Titus and Inas Moses.

The command Police Public Relations Officer SP Catherine Anene who disclosed this in a statement in Makurdi, said that, the arrests were made on 4th July 2022 at about 1730hrs while officers of Operation Zenda JTF were on stop and search duty at Dura bridge, Ugbema, Buruku LGA of Benue State.

She explained that at the spot, one Terhide Iordye was arrested with one hundred and eighty thousand 7.62 x 39mm live AK-47 ammunition in a sack.

SP Anene however stated that further investigation led to his confession that there were other gang members in Makurdi.

” Therefore, Three other suspects; Emanuel Kuhwa, Ikyor Titus and Inas Moses were subsequently arrested in possession of one hundred and twenty (120) ammunition making a total of three hundred (300) ammunition.

“These suspects confessed to being members of the same ammunition supply gang.

“An investigation is ongoing to unravel the source and the intended destination of this ammunition for further necessary actions”, she stressed.

Anene quoted the Commissioner of Police, Benue State Police Command, Cp. Wale Abass, as imploring the good people of the State to assist the police with useful information about criminals trying to frustrate the efforts of the command.
