The presidential candidate of the Labour Party in the Feb. 25 2023 election, Mr Peter Obi, has reacted to the manhandling of the President of the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, Comrade Joe Ajaero, in Imo state.

It would be recalled that Labour leaders stormed Imo state to protest against an Labour’s policies of the Gov. Hope Uzodinma’s administration.

As the protest was underway reports came out that Comrade Ajaero had been kidnapped.

After many hours, he appeared with a swollen and battered face and was rushed to Federal Medical Centre, Owerri.

But the police who took him away from the venue of the protest claimed to have taken him into protective custody.

Reacting to the ugly development, Obi said the incident came to him “as rude shock” and speaks volume about what’s happening in the country.

“What happened to the President of the Nigeria Labour Congress, Comrade Joe Ajaero, in Imo state, yesterday has come as a rude shock to most Nigerians.

“It says a lot about the state of affairs in our country today,” Obi wrote on  his X handle.
