PDP Wards Congress Peaceful, Orderly In Adamawa – Official

News Investigators/ Gebon Kataps, Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Wards Congresses in Adamawa  has described the exercise as peaceful, transparent and orderly.

Mr Kataps, who is the Secretary to the  Government of the State  (SGS) in  Taraba, stated this  in Girei while he led  the monitoring team to the  Local Government Area on Saturday.

He expressed satisfaction with the smooth conduct of the party’s ward congresses across the 226 political wards of the state.

‎ “So far so good, this is the third local Government we are visiting and we are very impressed with the early turnout of delegates, who have come out in their numbers to either vote for their candidates or affirm consensus candidates.

‎“We are also impressed with the unity we see among party members in all the wards visited and the atmosphere has been very peaceful,” Kataps said.

According to him, where more than one candidate is vying for a position, delegates are required to cast their votes, while in cases of consensus, delegates are expected to affirm agreed candidates.

‎He also commended the role of women in the process, hailing  their orderly conduct and high level of participation.

‎“The turnout of women is impressive in several polling units, women were seen coming out in large numbers and maintaining order as they awaited the start of elections.

“Even when men were moving around, the women stayed in line, which was quite commendable,” he said.

Earlier Hamza Madagali, the party’s Organising Secretary,  said PDP had put everything in place to ensure smooth conduct of the exercise at the grassroots.

He called on the party members to remain peacefully and conduct themselves orderly during and after the exercise, noting that the local government  and state congresses  would soon come up.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the monitoring team was in Yola-North, Yola-South and Girei local government areas.
