Parishioners Confessions: Female Catholic Worshipper Threatens Law Suit Against Benue APC Govship Candidate

Attah Ede, Makurdi

A female Catholic worshiper identified as Queen Torkwase Alaaga, has threatened to institute a legal action against the All Progressives Congress APC Governorship Candidate in Benue State, Rev. Fr. Hycienth Alia, for allegedly disclosing confessions made to him as priest by parishioners.

The decision to sue the man of God was necessitated by an alleged revelation by a media aide to the Reverend Father, Mr Mkor Aondonna Donatus, that the priest had been divulging details of confessions he recieved from parishioners while he was still serving before he was suspended by the Vatican after venturing into politics.

But the senior media aide, Mr. Donald Kumun dismissed the allegation saying no catholic priest on Earth would ever disclose confessional statement made by any parishioner.

According to him, it was not true that Fr. Alia reveal such information to anybody stressing that all catholic priests are under oath of secrecy and that no amount of threat, intimidation and circumstances that would warrant such act by the governorship candidate.

“You know this is a political era and people are looking for every dirty thing to do or say so as to demarket their opponent. I can categorically tell you that the write up was mischief and attempt to rubish our candidate who is widely acceptable to Benue people.

The revelation made in a Facebook comment on the wall of a female citizen, Queen Torkwase Alaaga who asked why a suspended priest should want to rule her state has sparked outrage in Benue.

Alaaga has already threatened legal action against the priest and his spokesman.

“The suspended priest’ has prayed for you and confessed personally to me that you were healed of an intractable and highly complicated staphylococcus and gonorrhea infection that ravaged your ‘vianen’ when no known orthodox and unorthodox mediation could cure it for you.

” Please be fair to God and the servant of God the Very Rev Fr. Hycinth Alia”, Mkor was said to have attacked Torkwase in their cybersquatting

Many are accusing the suspended Rev Fr of betraying the very essence of his calling even as Miss Alaaga categorically denies that she has ever suffered from veneral diseases.

It is feared that Catholics in Benue may now suffer in silence as confession of sins to a priest and serving penance is crucial to the feeling of spiritual purity in their fate.
