Ortom Swears-in new  Chief Judge, Five New Permanent Secretaries

Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom, on Tuesday, sworn-in Justice Maurice Ikpambese as Chief Judge of Benue State with a call on him to ensure speedy dispensation of justice in all matters before Benue courts.

The Governor equally  swore-in five newly appointed permanent secretaries in the state civil service.

Those swore-in as Permanent Secretaries in the Benue State civil service are Aondover Geraga, Ngufan Finbarr, Ruth Ubwa, Austin Ujah and Iorkpiligh Agwaza.

In his remarks at the separate ceremonies held Tuesday, April 11th, 2023 at the Benue Peoples House, Makurdi, Governor Ortom said the deep knowledge of Justice Ikpambese in the interpretation of the law and his firm belief in fairness would make him to succeed.

The Governor who stressed that the appointment of Justice Ikpambese was coming at a time when elections are concluded and litigations have commenced arising from the conduct of the polls, advised him to avoid all the landmines that were associated with such cases.

Governor Ortom explained that the new Permanent Secretaries were appointed based on sound character, commitment to duty, discipline, fair representation and reward for excellence in service.

He charged them to live up to the expectations of their offices in addition to shunning corruption, indiscipline and all negative tendencies that could hamper the state from moving forward.

The State Chief Judge, Justice Maurice Ikpambese in his response pledged to abide by the oath of office he took to uphold the constitution, in addition to ensuring improvement in justice delivery and infrastructural development in the state judiciary.

Justice Ikpambese expressed appreciation to Governor Samuel Ortom for ensuring seamless transition in the state judiciary and appealed to judges as well as the public to support him to move the judiciary to a higher level.

Speaking on behalf of the Permanent Secretaries, Mrs Ngufan Finbarr thanked Governor Ortom for selecting them among very many qualified people and promised to put in their best in the performance of their duties to ensure the development of the state.

Governor Ortom during the ceremony announced the appointment of Mr Godfrey Agada as new Auditor General of the State following the retirement of Mr. Amos Ekirigwe from service.
