News Investigators/ The Ondo State House of Assembly on Friday passed the 2026 supplementary budget of N775.518 billion.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Gov. Lucky Aiyedatiwa had on Sept. 9 presented the revised 2026 Appropriation Bill of N769.384 billion to the Assembly, raising the state’s original budget of N524.411 billion.
The Chairman of Committee on Finance and Appropriation, Oluwole Ogunmolasuyi, said that the revised budget would give expressions to the vision of the state government to bring about rapid development in the state across all sectors.
Ogunmolasuyi added that the supplementary budget would provide the required funds that would sustain ongoing projects with driving impetus to respond to emerging developmental needs of the state.
According to him, the revised budget is in line with best practice in funds utilisation and budget performance.
The chairman said the Ondo State Internal Revenue Service (ODIRS) was not working in tandem with other governmental bodies to realize the existing 2026 approved revenue budget.
He asked the government to ensure that all necessary steps were taken to boost the internally generated revenue to meet the Ease Agenda of the current administration.
The House Leader, Olatunji Oshati, therefore, moved a motion for the bill to be passed and Abayomi Akinruntan seconded the motion.
The Speaker of the Assembly, Olamide Oladiji, commended the committee for putting its best in ensuring the quality delivery of the report on the supplementary budget.
Oladiji said that the budget would boost confidence of residents in the state governor in carrying out more infrastructure, and well-being and wellness of the state.
The House of the Assembly also committed into the Committee on Judiciary and Public Petitions the bill to increase retirement age and enhanced remuneration of Magistrates and Grade A Customary Court presidents to 65 years.
NAN also reports that the bill for the establishment of the Rufus Giwa University of Agriculture, Science and Technology, Owo scaled into the Committees on Tertiary Institutions and Education, Science and Technology for proper scrutiny.
