… SAYS HE IS A GOOD MAN
The Governor of Anambra State, Prof Charles Soludo, has described his predecessor, Chief Willie Obiano as a good man.
Soludo said that Obiano who is being detained by the anti graft agency, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, will soon regain his freedom.
The Governor spoke while attending a thanksgiving service St.Theresa’s Catholic Church in his Isuofia country home on Sunday.
Obiano was arrested by operatives of the EFCC on his way to Houston,Texas at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Lagos, on Thursday shortly after handing over to Governor Charles Soludo.
He was picked up at 8:30 pm by Operatives monitoring his movement as he made to board a flight to Houston, Texas.
The Network gathered that the EFCC is focusing attention on Obiano who they described as the chief suspect.
The Commission which moved him to Abuja the following day has been interrogating him for allegedly diversion N42 billion Anambra State funds.
A top source at the commission said that the funds involved N37 billion Security Vote and N5 billion Sure- P funds.
Soludo who attended the service with the First Lady, Mrs Nonye Soludo, expressed gratitude to God for the victory and protection.
The former Governor of Central Bank reiterated the promise he made to the Anambra people that he would take due advantage of state resources for important developmental projects.
He again repeated his position that there was no need for elaborate ceremony during his swearing in event on Thursday.
He stressed that he would never deploy state resources for the frivolity of ostentatious celebrations.
Soludo who briefed the congregation on his activities since taking over as Governor said that he visited Okpoko slum and placed a ban on the notorious activities of touts in the state.
The presiding Bishop, Most Rev’d Peter Ebere Okpaleke, Bishop of Ekwulobia Diocese, advised Governor Soludo to apply wisdom in the governance of the state.
The Bishop described Soludo as an intelligent man whose administration is expected yield serious democratic dividends to the people of the state.
“Be a wise leader and the people will follow you faithfully.” He said
