Obasa Visits First Lady, Pledges Support For Renewed Hope Initiative

News Investigators/ Speaker of Lagos State House of Assembly, Mudashiru Obasa, has pledged his unflinching support to the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI) of the First Lady, Sen. Oluremi Tinubu.

‎Mr Obasa pledged the support while speaking with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on the sidelines of his visit to the first lady at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Sunday.

He also commended Mrs Tinubu for hosting interfaith breaking of Ramadan and Lent fast for women.

‎He described her role in the President Bola Tinubu-led administration through the expansion of the benefits of Renewed Hope Agenda to the grassroots as inestimable.

“I am here to see the first Lady in this period of Ramadan and Lent, both happening together. That is why I am here to identify with our first Lady, as we know that she is a mother of faith who strongly believes in our Lord Jesus Christ.

“Right from Lagos since her days as wife of the governor and now as the first lady of the federation, it is important to say hello to Her Excellency and to join her to observe short prayer since we are all fasting.

“Recently, she held breaking of fast for both Christiansand Muslim women, and she just returned from Delta State. That was a great reception and great outing. All these we have witnessed and we shall continue to see more of it,” Obasa said.

‎The speaker further expressed appreciation to Mrs Tinubu for carrying out programmes through the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI) in support of what the Federal Government had been doing in reaching out to citizens.

He lauded her for how far the initiative had been benefiting children, women and youths across the country, adding that her past leadership in Lagos and her “impactful” work had continued to speak.

He called on state governors whose wives are also the coordinators of RHI in their respective states to also support the programmes, as it was another way every Nigerian could benefit from the federal government.

‎”We need to support her in everything she has been doing; the way she reaches out to children and the helpless ones in our society. That is part of why we are here to commend her for the good job she has been doing.

‎”The food distribution, we have witnessed, the menstrual pads distribution to young girls in secondary schools and many more projects she has embarked on and her support for Mr President.

‎”It is necessary to have support from the states because she can not do it alone and she is not doing it for herself; it is in the interest of Nigerians, particularly women and children.

“Therefore, there is the need to call on the governors and the rest of them to keep supporting her, especially in what she is doing and we, in our little way, we would continue to support her, ” Obasa said.

He also stressed the need for governors in the 36 states of the federation to enlighten their people on what the president had been doing through the Renewed Hope Agenda, using the RHI platform.
