NSCDC, Pharmacists Council Partners Against fake Drugs In Anambra

The Anambra State Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Mr. Everestus C. Obiyo has pledged the support of the Corps to the Pharmacists Council of Nigeria , (PCN) in its anti- counterfeiting enforcement drive.

Obiyo stated this on Thursday when he received in audience a delegation of the PCN Anambra State Pharmaceutical Inspection Committee, and Patent and Proprietary Medicine Vendors Licence Committee led by the Chairman , Pharm. Mrs. Egbuonu Edith at the State Command Headquarters Awka the state capital.

The Public Relations Officer of the NSCDC in the state DSC Okadigbo Edwin, said in a statement that the commandant acknowledged the long standing mutual relationship with the PCN.

He expressed the readiness of the Command to strengthen its operational support to the Council in carrying out the enforcement exercise to rid the State of drug adulteration and proliferation.

Earlier, Pharm. (Mrs) Fechi Njoku stated that the essence of the visit was to solicit the cooperation and collaboration of NSCDC in the enforcement of the code of conduct guiding the operation of Pharmaceutical Stores in the State.

She said, “Among the core mandate of the PCN is to ensure rational distribution and dispensing of medicines that are safe, effective, and of good quality to the public” .

Mrs. Njoku condemned the activities of unregistered outlets who are operating far beyond the scope allowed by law if registered.”

However, she advised members of the public to patronize only licenced Pharmacies and patent medicine vendors and report any unregistered outlet to the Council.
