NSCDC Detains 28-Year-Old Fraudster In Adamawa

News Investigators/ The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Adamawa Command, has detained a 28-year-old suspected fraudster.

The command’s Spokesperson, Nyako Baba, who disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday in Yola, said the suspect would face prosecution on conclusion of investigations.

Mr Baba said operatives of the command arrested the suspect on Sept. 2 in Timbokum village, Ganye Local Government Area, following a report at the Corps’ divisional office in Mubi.

He quoted the State Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Idris Bande, as saying that the suspect had allegedly defrauded at least nine individuals of ₦9.08 million.

He noted that the suspect ” promises his unspecting victims political appointments, job opportunities, and foreign travel arrangements.”

Mr Bande, however, added that the suspect refunded to some of his victims, N1.1 million during preliminary investigations.

“Records show that the suspect obtained contacts of prominent personalities in the state, which he used to lure his victims with attractive but fake offers,” Bande said.

The commandant added that investigations were ongoing to determine the full extent of the suspect’s activities and to identify any possible accomplices.

He assured the public that the suspect would be prosecuted in accordance with the law, while urging residents to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious activities.

According to him, the NSCDC remains committed to protecting lives, property and public trust by bringing fraudsters and other criminals to justice.
