NORTHERN GOVERNORS INSIST ON POWER SHIFT TO SOUTH AFTER MEETING BUHARI

The 13 All Progressives Congress, APC governors from the North, have on Monday insisted that the presidency must be shifted to the South for equity, peace and unity of the country.

The Forum reached the decision after meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari, as they insisted that the presidential ticket of the party must go to the South.

The Chairman of the Northern Governors Forum and Governor of Plateau State, Simon Lalong, led the team to the meeting with the President at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

According to him, the President has not anointed any aspirant among the 25 aspirants as the flag bearer of the party.

Addressing State House Correspondents after the meeting, Lalong said President Buhari requested the governors to have a meeting with the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party to resolve the issue of consensus candidate through democratic means.

According to Lalong, the governors told the President of their decision to ensure that power returns to the South for the sake of equity and unity of the country.

He said the NWC is going to be meeting by 5pm Monday.
