NJC Recommends Abba Aji For Supreme Court, Seven Others


The National Judicial Council (NJC) has recommended to President Muhammadu Buhari the appointment of Justice Uwani Musa Abba Aji into the supreme court.

The NJC also recommended appointment of Chief Judges into the High Courts of Abia, Benue and Ogun States.

A statement by Director of Information, Soji Oye, named the judges as Hon. Mr. Justice Onuoha Arisa Kalu Ogwe, Hon. Mr. Justice Aondover Kaka’an and Hon. Mr. Justice Mosunmola Arinola Dipeolu respectively.

“The National Judicial Council under the Chairmanship of the Honourable Mr. Justice Walter Samuel Nkanu Onnoghen, GCON, at its 87th Meeting of 3rd and 4th October, 2018, recommended to President Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR, and Governors of Abia, Benue, Ogun, Oyo and Kwara States, Eight (8) successful candidates for appointment as a Justice of the Supreme Court of Nigeria, Heads of Courts and Judicial Officers.

The Council also recommended the appointment of justices Oludayo Oluwabamise Osunfisan, Olusola Stephen Oloyede and Olatunde Hassan Oyajinmi into Ogun State High Court of justice.

Other appointments include: appointment of Zakariyah Abdulrasaq as Kadi Sharia Court of Appeal for Kwara State and Hon. Mr. Justice Eni Esan as President, Customary court of Appeal, Oyo State.

“The newly appointed candidates will be sworn-in after the approval of the President and their respective State Governors as the case may be,” Mr. Oye added.
