NDLEA Arrests 80-year-Old Grandpa With Meth, Others In Ekiti

News Investigators/ The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arrested an 80-year-old grandpa, during a special raid operation at Mosafuneto camp, Erinmo road, Efon-Alaaye Ekiti.

This is contained in a statement on Sunday  in Abuja, by the Director, Media and Advocacy NDLEA, Femi Babafemi.

Mr Babafemi said that the NDLEA operatives arrested the suspect on March 26 with a total of 2.2kg of suspected skunk and 1.8 grammes of suspected methamphetamine.

He also said that 894.72kg of same psychoactive substance was seized from another suspect, when an uncompleted building was raided by NDLEA officers at Ogbese, in Akure North area of Ondo State same day.

He further said that not less than 116.7kg of suspected skunk was recovered from a suspect, during a raid operation at Pevi village, Guma LGA of Benue on March 24.

The Ndlea director of media and advocacy, also said that in Edo, operatives on March 23, uncovered a warehouse in Ekpoma town, Esan West LGA.

He said this led to the arrest of a suspect and the seizure of 576.5kg of suspected skunk and 33 bottles of suspected codeine-based syrup.

“Similarly, in Taraba, NDLEA officers acting on credible intelligence on March 24, intercepted a truck marked DUT 457 ZB.

“The truck was conveying 100 blocks of compressed suspected skunk weighing 135 kilogrammes concealed in bags of animal feed from Garbachede to Gombe.

“Two suspects were nabbed in connection with the seizure,” he said.

He added that the War Against Drug Abuse (WADA) social advocacy activities by NDLEA commands has continued across the country.

He said that the activities include WADA sensitisation lecture delivered to students and staff of Community Secondary School, Itigidi, Abi LGA, Cross River; and Government Girls Secondary School, Yola, Adamawa among others.
