By Sadiq Umar – The National Assembly on Thursday passed the 2017 Appropriation budget sum of  N7,441,175,486,758, even as it disclosed that it would spend N125billion as its estimate budget this year.

The two arms released the breakdown of its 2017 Budget of N125 billion, with additional N10 billion to NASS’ 2016 Budget of N115bn during plenary on Thursday.

President of the Senate Bukola Saraki hailed the lawmakers for their efforts on the budget.

He also restated the parliament’s resolve to promote more transparency in the National Assembly spending in accordance with earlier promise of making the budget of the legislative arm of government public.

“I appreciate the cooperation of members of the Executive and the remarkable difference from the 2016 process, said Senate president Bukola Saraki.

“It is my hope that this budget of recovery would go a long way and take us out of recession”.

It is the first time in many years that the National Assembly would make public details of its spending for a fiscal year.
