The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has arrested a former Governor of Zamafara State, ABDULAZEEZ Yari and Anthony Yaro on Sunday.
Yaro is the Chairman and managing director of Finex Professionals.
The Network gathered that Yari and Yaro were arrested for alleged complicity in the N84 billion fraud involving the Accountant General of the Federation, Mr Ahmed Idris.
EFCC had arrested the Accountant General Mr Idris for alleged diversion of N84 billion on May 16, 2022. He is still with the commission.
The Network gathered that the former Zamfara State Governor was arrested in his Abuja residence for failing to respond to the commission’s invitation,
A source told the Network that Yari received up to N22 billion through Finex Professional which which the AGF paid one Akindele.
The source was silent on the identity of the Akindele who received the payment supposedly on behalf of Yaro.
“The EFCC today May 29, 2022 arrested a former Governor of Zamfara State, Abdulaziz Yari and Anthony Yaro, Chairman and managing director of Finex Professional for their alleged role in N84billion fraud involving former Accountant General of the Federation.
“Yari who was picked up at about 5pm today allegedly benefited to the tune of N22bn through Finex Professional, from the N84billion which the former AGF paid one Akindele.” The source said
