News Investigators/ U.S. billionaire entrepreneur, Elon Musk helped convince Iran to release Italian journalist Cecilia Sala, arrested in Tehran in December, the New York Times reported, citing unnamed Iranian officials.
Musk has discussed the issue with Iranian Permanent Representative to the UN, Amir Saeid Iravani, to help secure Sala’s release, the officials said.
In late December, police in Tehran arrested the Italian journalist who came to Iran on professional duty.
Sala returned to Italy on Jan. 8, where she was met at the airport by Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni and Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani.
