Momodu’s Comments On Tinubu Misguided, Uncharitable, Says Fani-Kayode

News Investigators/ Nigeria’s Ambassador-designate to Germany, Femi Fani-Kayode, has taken a swipe at Dele Momodu, a chieftain of the opposition African Democratic Congress (ADC) over his recent comments on President Bola Tinubu.

Mr Momodu had in a recent interview on Channels Television likened Tinubu’s leadership style to that of a former Nigerian military Head of State, Gen. Sani Abacha.

Mr Fani-Kayode, a former Minister of Aviation, while reacting to Momodu’s criticism in a statement on Tuesday, in Abuja, titled: “To My Brother Bobby Dee,” described the comments as “misguided” and “uncharitable”.

Expressing his disappointment in Mr Momodu, Fani-Kayode said that the media entrepreneur’s comparing of Tinubu with Abacha was a reflection of a “worrisome level of cognitive dissonance”.

Mr Fani-Kayode urged Momodu to reconsider his political alignment, disengage from what he described as unproductive associations, and take a break from political commentary to reassess his views.

He urged Mr Momodu to “listen to the Holy Spirit,” adding: “The Bible says, Who is he that sayeth a thing and it cometh to pass when the Lord God of Hosts has commanded it not?”

According to him, Momodu is also disrespectful to key government officials, including the president, vice president, ministers, senators, and newly appointed ambassadors, many of whom possess more governance experience.

The ambassador-designate also described Momodu’s ADC as a party that is weak, lacking in structure, direction, and capacity to serve as a credible opposition ahead of the 2027 general elections.

“The ADC cannot even be described as a sinking ship but rather as a badly patched-up inflatable plastic lifeboat that has not even managed to find its bearing or leave the harbour.

“It has no engine, no sails, no oars, no captain, no crew, no navigational equipment, no muscle, no firepower, no war chest, no destination, and worse of all, it is made of rubber and not steel.

“How can such an ill-prepared contraption even float, let alone do battle?” Fani-Kayode asked.

He urged ADC to focus on strengthening its internal framework rather than criticising the ruling All Progressives Congress, adding that APC’s  growing support was a reflection of public confidence in Tinubu’s administration.

“ADC cannot possibly survive the rough seas and harsh winds of Nigerian politics because it lacks gravitas, focus, character, intelligence, discipline and strength.

“It needs to be built up, better schooled, better trained, better equipped, better educated and better prepared before it can enter the field and before we can even begin to regard it as an opposition party,” he stressed.

The ambassador-designate reaffirmed his support for President Tinubu, noting that the administration “started well” and would end well, by the grace of God.”
