MINISTERS SEEKING ELECTIVE OFFICES MEETS BUHARI OVER RESIGNATION DIRECTIVES

Some members of the Federal Executive Council (FEC), affected by the president’s directive to resign to pursue their interests to contest the 2023 presidential election are in a crucial meeting with President Mohammadu Buhari at the presidential Villa.

On Monday, the President in a circular, signed by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha, asked Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefelie, heads of agencies, and ministers seeking to contest the 2023 general elections to resign on or before Monday 16 May.

According to reports, those at the meeting include, include Rotimi Amaechi (Transportation); Chris Ngige( Labour and Employment); Goodwill Akpabio (Niger Delta Affairs); Abubakar Malami (Justice and Attorney-General of the Federation).

Also at the meeting are Ministers of State for Mines and Steel, Uche Ogar; Petroleum Resources Timipre Sylva; Minsiter of State for Niger Delta Affairs Tayo Alasoadura; Ministers of Science, Technology and Innovation, Ogbonnaya Onu and Women Affairs, Paullen Tallen.

Recall that most of them have resigned their appointments following the instructions while others said they are to consult with the President before resignation.
