Military Confirms 22 Dead In Molai Bomb Blast

By Ibrahim Imam – No fewer than 22 persons have been confirmed dead in the early morning explosion that occurred in Ummarari village near Molai, outskirts of Maiduguri metropolis, Borno State capital.Bomb blast

Acting Director, Army Public Relations, Colonel Sani Usman, who confirmed the casualty figures said in a statement that the attack was carried out by two female carriers, explaining the first attack targeted a mosque, while the second blast occurred about 50 metres away, a few minutes later.

About 18 other victims sustained various degrees of injuries in the deadly attack.

Col. Usman stated that troops, security agents and care givers have been mobilized to the scene, while the injured have been evacuated to Molai General Hospital for treatment.

He added the troops; security agents and the Civilian JTF have secured the area and were combing the scene for possible clues.

“While we commiserate with the families of the victims of this dastardly act, we wish to reassure the public that we would continue to rout the remnants of the Boko Haram terrorists wherever they may be hiding.

We will not rest on our oars until all those that masterminded this latest heinous and other similar crimes are apprehended and brought to justice” the statement.

It urged members of the public to be more security conscious, cooperate with the troops and other security agencies.
