By Sadiq Umar – The Ahmed Makarfi faction of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has summoned a meeting to discuss “crucial party matters” concerning last Friday Appeal Court ruling that granted recognition to its rival group.

The meeting scheduled for 2:00pm in Abuja on Monday would be attended by the National Executive Committee, NEC, the Board of Trustees, BoT, National Assembly members, former governors of the PDP, former ministers under the platform of the party, former National Assembly members and party elders.

Recall that the Court of Appeal, sitting in Port Harcourt had on Friday nullified the May 21, 2016 National Convention of the party that appointed the Makarfi-led national caretaker committee.

The Court also validated the position of Ali Sheriff as the National Chairman of the party.

Mr. Makarfi, who is working with the BoT and PDP Governors has vowed to pursue the matter to the Supreme Court, insisting Mr. Modu-Sheriff cannot lead the party.

The notice of its meeting signed by the faction’s spokesperson, Dayo Adeyeye, said all those invited to the meeting should attend “unfailingly as crucial party matters will be discussed.”
