The Former Chairman of Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) Senator Ahmadu Ali on Wednesday, added a new twist to the unresolved controversy surrounding the annulment of the June 12 1993 Presidential election won by late Chief MKO Abiola, revealing that the late Abiola actually sponsored the coup that brought the Late Gen. Sani Abacha into power in 1993.

Ali said the late winner of the election formed the cabinet for late military head of state.

The former Chairman of PDP made the revelations while speaking with Journalists at ongoing National Conference, saying that civilians are the one that used to encourage military to take over power from civilians.

Ali said,” It true that civilians are always encouraging military to go ahead and takeover, the last was that the late Chief MKO Abiola of blessed memory. He went and connived with Abacha to seize power and think that when he comes in the man will hand over to him.

“It does not work (that way) because the military man that goes for the coup had already signed away his life.  That first cabinet of Abacha, it was Abiola who formed it, he thought they will call him back and when they don’t call him, he fell out with Abacha.”

He added,” when the military overthrown civilian, you all were clapping for them until is overthrown by his colleague this what we kept doing in this country and that has carried us nowhere.

“They overthrown government base on their personal interest or tribal interest, the Indonesia/ Malaysia we are talking, they overthrown government and hold to the programme they met and executed and completed it.

“We kept on abolishing whatever someone has done because you overthrown me.”

He also carpeted National Assembly Jumbo pay saying that he received less than N1000 when he was the Senator of Federal Republic of Nigeria.
