Lagos Lawyer Murdered by Police ASP On Xmas Day Buried

The Lagos Lawyer, Mrs Bolanle Raheem, who was shot dead on Christmas day by an Assistant Superintendent of Police has been buried in Lagos amidst tears.

Mr Raheem was laid to her final place of rest   at the Vaults and Gardens (Mayfair) cemetery, Ikoyi.

The family had held a service of songs in her honour on Monday preparatory to her burial on Tuesday.

The funeral service for the late mother of five who was said to be pregnant with twins was held  at the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Olive branch parish, Banana Island, Lagos.

The solemn, tearful event was attended by members of the grieving family, members of the Nigeria Bar Association, church members and friends.

A former Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Pastor Okechukwu Enelamah, who delivered the sermon said that the late lawyer lived a short life with great impact.

He recalled that the story of her death has triggered widespread reactions that would culminate in reforms in the society.

The late pregnant lawyer was shot dead by Mr Drambi Vandi, an Assistant Superintendent attached to the Ajiwe Police Station in Ajah, Lagos State, while she was returning from an outing with her family members on Christmas Day.

The prime suspect, Vandi, was arraigned before a Lagos High Court, sitting at the Tafawa Balewa Square, before Justice Ibironke Harrison for murder where he pleaded not guilty.

He is being accused of unlawfully killing the late Raheed by shooting her in the chest in Lagos on Christmas Day.

“That you ASP Drambi Vandi on the 25th day of December 2022, at Ajah Road, along the Lekki Expressway, Lagos, unlawfully killed one Omobolanle Raheem by shooting the deceased in the chest contrary to Section 223 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2015,” the charge reads.
