LAGOS CP ORDERS INVESTIGATION INTO BABY HIDDEN IN COURIER BOX OF DISPATCH RIDER 

The Lagos State Police Command has started a manhunt for a dispatch rider who was caught with a baby hidden in his courier box at the Sangotedo area of Lekki, Lagos.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Lagos State Police Command, Mr Adekunle Ajisebutu, said in a statement on Saturday that the Commissioner of Police ordered intensified efforts to locate the rider, the parents or guardian of the child to enable the police to properly investigate the shocking development.
However, the PPRO said that the incident has not been reported at any station in Lagos for investigation to commence.
“The attention of the Lagos State Police Command has been drawn to a video going viral on social media alleging that a yet-to- be- identified dispatch rider stole a child found and recovered in a dispatch box.

“The command wishes to inform the public that the incident said to have taken place in Sangotedo area, Lekki, was not reported at any police station to enable the police take appropriate actions.

“Notwithstanding that the incident was not reported, the Commissioner of Police, Abiodun Alabi, fdc, mnim, psc, has directed that efforts should be intensified to locate the whereabouts of the alleged dispatch rider and the parents or guardians of the child to enable the police investigate the incident.” He said 
The Lagos State Police Command’s reaction followed a viral video in which a dispatch rider was caught with a weak child in his courier box.
The angry mob descended on the young man, gave him some slaps as they drove him away on a commercial motorcycle to an unknown location.
Some of them increased the beating as the frail-looking helpless child  urinated on himself.
It took the efforts of some people to prevent the rider from being lynched.
