•••Says She was Moved By Compassion

A 24 year old lady, who gave her identity as Martha Uche, has voluntarily stepped in to to donate her kidney to Sonia, daughter of
former Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu.

It would be recalled that Ekweremadu and his wife, Beatrice, were arrested and charged to court for allegedly bringing ‘a child’ to the UK for organ harvesting.

Both husband and wife are still remanded in the UK, custody, waiting for the resumption of their trial, as the London police are still carrying out investigations.

The daughter of former Deputy Senate President, Sonia Ekweremadu, on Monday released a deeply emotional statement where she appealed to Nigerians for a desperate assistance for survival.

In the statement which was released on her Instagram page on Monday, Sonia Ekweremadu traced the story of her predicament and begged public spirited kidney donors to come to her rescue.

She said in the statement ‘APPEAL FOR KIDNEY DONATION BY SONIA EKWEREMADU’ that she had to drop out of post graduate studies in the University of Newcastle, United Kingdom, in 2019 when she was diagnosed with a rare kidney disease.

Miss Ekweremadu also disclosed that her father, the former Deputy President of Senate, has been diagnosed with acute kidney damage.

She said that she is hopeful that the truth around the detention and trial of her father for alleged trafficking of somebody for organ harvesting would be revealed.

“I, Sonia Ekweremadu, hereby appeal to the general public to come to my aid and save my life.

“Anybody that is moved by this appeal and wishes to donate his or her kidney to me may send an email to helpsonialive@gmail.com and include his or her name, phone number, email address and place of residence.

“Please, note that under the laws of England and Wales, organ donation must be purely driven by compassion and therefore no reward is involved.

“Finally, I have decided to commit and dedicate myself to helping people with the challenges of kidney disease, upon my full recovery.

“Thank you and God bless you.” Sonia stated.

However, on Tuesday, in a video making the rounds online, one Martha said she had a dream where she was instructed to save Sonia’s life.

“I want to do that because I need to help the girl, she is dying. They have already showed me in my dream that I should help the girl

“I’ve already seen her a long time ago. Even this morning I still had the same dream so I need to do it fast.” Martha said.

Martha said she was not demanding anything for the donation but was for the act of compassion.

“I do not have any demands for now. I just need to save the girl’s life; that is the most important thing for now.” She said

Recall that the former Deputy Senate President wrote to the UK high commission to support a visa application of a “donor” listed as Ukpo Nwamini David.

In the letter, Ekweremadu said Ukpo was undergoing “medical investigations for a kidney donation to Ms Sonia Ekweremadu”.

But the police said the donor was 15, but the data from his international passport indicated that he is 21 years old.
