Usman Bello Kumo

News Investigators/ (Gombe)/ A former Chairman of House of Representatives Committee on Police Affairs, Usman Bello Kumo says the current security challenges facing the country are not insurmountable if all hands are deck in support of government’s efforts.

Hon. Kumo expressed concern over the recent killings by armed bandits in Sokoto and Zamfara states, saying, that every Nigerian must be genuinely interested in offering assistance to security agencies.

In a chat with reporters Thursday in Gombe, the state capital, the consummate politician who is seeking reelection to represent Akko federal constituency of Gombe State, called on corporate organizations in Nigeria to support President Muhammadu Buhari’s efforts to tackle security problems.

Hon. Kumo said security funding can no longer be left for the government. Philanthropy and all well-meaning well to do Nigerians must be involved to support at every level, local, state and federal.

“It is in so doing that enabling business atmosphere can be created for economic activities to thrive. It is high time companies and corporate bodies invest in security by supporting our security agencies through donations and corporate support funding,” he said.

According to Hon. Kumo, the business potential in northern part and indeed Nigeria as a nation is “huge and largely untapped, whether in mining, agriculture and agro-based sectors.”

“This is why we must begin to take deliberate interest by supporting government’s current efforts in order for Nigerians especially the youth to be able to access and unlock the inherent business opportunities,” he added.

He said his new year message for Nigeria is to vote wisely in the forth-coming general elections by ensuring the reelection of President Muhammadu Buhari back into office.

Hon. Kumo who is the House of Representatives candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in the 2019 general elections, assured the people of Gombe State quality representation.

“As a cognate member of National Assembly, l am a better position to leverage my experience and contacts to serve my people better. I want to assure you that l will work for you,” he further said.
