News Investigators/ The governor of Ondo State, Rotimi Akeredolu is dead.

Mr. Akeredolu died at an undisclosed location in Ikeja, Lagos State, following a prolonged battle with leukemia.

He was aged 67.

The late governor was reportedly flown back to Germany on December 12, 2023 for further treatment after official transfer of power to his deputy, Lucky Aiyedatiwa in acting capacity.

That was four months after the governor returned to the country and stayed in his private residence in Ibadan Oyo State.

“During his medical leave, Governor Akeredolu will prioritise his health and ensure a full recovery before resuming his official duties”, Richard Olatunde, his chief press secretary had stated.

Unconfirmed report said Mr. Akeredolu was not flown to Germany but was being managed by State House doctors up to his death.

However, contrary to claims that he was flown to Germany, sources told News Investigators that Mr. Akeredolu died in Lagos. He died in Ikeja Lagos, l wouldn’t know why he was taken to Lagos after the request for an air ambulance from the presidency,” the source said.

Another media report quoted sources as saying that, “They were looking for dialysis machines to be sent to his secret location in Lagos last week.”
