Iyayi Dies In Auto Crash With Kogi Governor’s Convoy

Former National President of the Academic Staff Union of University, Prof. Festus Iyayi has died in a ghastly car accident.

Reports reaching NewsInvestigators indicate that Iyayi was on his way to ASUU National Congress in Kano when his vehicle was ran over by a convoy of the Kogi State Governor, Mr. Idris Wada along Lokoja-Auchi road.

Iyayi was traveling in company of ASUU’s welfare secretary, Dr. (Mrs.) Ngozi Ile and ASUU chairman, Uniben, Dr. Anthony who were badly injured and unconscious.

Reliable sources said it was the last car in the Kogi governor’s convoy that was faced with a difficult situation when an on-coming trailer did a wrong overtaking,” the said confirmed.

Chairman, Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) University of Lagos Chapter, Dr. Ogenekaro Ogbinaka, who was at the scene of the accident, confirmed Iyayi’s death reporters.

Ogbinaka blamed the accident on the bad portion of highway around Lokoja in Kogi state.
