By Sadiq Umar – The Senate Tuesday announced President Muhammadu Buhari’s decision to temporary handover the government to Vice President Yemi Osinbajo.

The decision follows Buhari’s 10-days trip abroad for medical treatment.

The Senate, in a letter read at the plenary by Deputy President of the Senate, Ike Ekweremadu officially informed the lawmakers of Buhari’s decision.

It is the second time in one year the President would temporarily but officially handover power to the Vice President.

Reading the correspondence signed by President Buhari, the deputy senate president said the Senate wished the president quick recovery.

The President left Abuja for London on Monday to receive treatment for his “persistent ear infection”.

Buhari’s decision to travel to UK for ear treatment has generated mixed reactions among Nigerians, many of who argued that the decision was not good for the image of Nigeria.
