Some irate youths have beaten two policemen to death in Ikpesi, Akoko Edo Local Government Area of Edo State.
The two policemen were lunched when the convoy in which they were traveling rammed into a motorcycle killing the rider and the passenger on the spot.
The Network gathered that the policemen who were in a hilux were escorting a former member of the Edo State House of Assembly, Hon Emmanuel Agbaje when the accident occurred.
A source told the Network that the irate youths invaded the office of the
Edo State Security Volunteer Network where they lynched two of the policemen.
However, the vigilate fought hard to rescue two others who are said to be receiving medical attention.
The vigilante were also said to have recovered the rifles of the policemen.
The Spokesman of the Edo State Police Command, Mr Chidi Nwabuzor confirmed the incident on Sunday though he did not give further details.
The names of the four police were given as Inspector Brownson Brown, Inspector Abubaka Fakkuk, Sergeant Taiye Ojiefo and Sergeant Elisha John attached to Police Mobile Force 19.
