Gunmen in Army uniforms have assassinated an ex-militant leader, Indukapo Ogede, in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State.
Ogede who was head of operations of Darlon Oil and Gas Servicing Limited was assassinated on Sunday night at a hotel off Tamic road, Okutukutu Area of Yenagoa.
The Bayelsa State Police Command through its spokesman, Asinim confirmed the assassination of the ex-militant and appealed for calm.
He said that the Police had started investigation into the crime.
The Network gathered that the assassins traced Ogede to his hotel, and pretended to be guests after paying for three rooms.
It was gathered that when the hotel staff noticed the queer conduct of the ‘guests’ at the bar, they called Ogede to alert him but he didn’t pick the call placed to his mobile telephone line.
A source told the Network that the assailants fired two shots at Ogede as he made to enter into the hotel premises.
He was confirmed death at the Glory Land hospital, Opolo, Yenagoa where he was rushed to for urgent medical attention.
Ogede’s body has been deposited at the mortuary of the Federal Medical Centre, Yenagoa.
The Chairman, Darlon Oil and Gas Limited, Chief Levi Wilson, who confirmed the unfortunate incident
urged the police to investigate and fish out the perpetrators of the dastardly act for prosecution.
He condemned the callous act lamenting that the deceased was survived by his parents, wife and children.
