Gunmen Attack Ayamelum Divisional Police  Hqtrs In Ananbbra  

Gunmen in the early hours of Wednesday attacked the Divisional Police Station in Anaku, Ayamelum Local Government Area of Anambra State.


Several vehicles parked within the premises were set ablaze by the Gunmen during the early morning attack.


The hoodlums were however repelled by police officers on duty, causing the gunmen to flee.


The latest attack bring to six the number of police stations so far torched by suspected unknown Gunmen since the past three weeks.


Police Public Relations Officer of the Anambra State command, DSP Toochukwu Ikenga, when contacted  confirmed the incident.


He said the gunmen after being successfully repelled threw a locally made explosive into the compound.


He stated that no casualties were recorded during the attack, pointing out that operatives of the command are more determined now than ever, to protect all their facilities from attacks, and also face the attackers.


According to Ikenga: “The Anambra police operatives are more firm and courageous, following the successful repel of an attack in the early hours of today 20/4/2022 at Anaku divisional headquarters.


“The operatives stood firm and engaged the hoodlums which made them flee the scene. Also, the miscreants in a bid to escape threw bon fires inside the station and it affected three of police operational vehicles. No casualty on part of police and all police arms are intact.


He added that olice reinforcement is already there, operation is still ongoing and further details shall be communicated

The state government has taken proactive measures to stem the tide of criminal activities across the state.


Governor Chukwuma Soludo had urged extended the amnesty programme of his government to all hoodlums including members of the IPOB and other agitators and asked them to come out from their jodeiuts in the forests, embrace peace and the amnesty programme of the administration.
