The National Population Commissioner for Bayelsa State Mrs Gloria Izonfuo has been kidnapped by gunmen.
She was abducted alongside her driver and maid at 6:30pm on Sunday.
The Network gathered that she was kidnapped around the Ogbakiri junction along the East-West Road in Emohua Local Government Area of Rivers State on Sunday evening.
The Police Public Relations Officer in charge of the Rivers State Police Command, who confirmed the incident to journalists, said the Commissioner of Police had ordered the command’s tactical teams to go after the kidnappers to rescue the victims.
The kidnappers are reported to have placed a ransom of N500 million for her release.
The abducted commissioner was traveling to Port Harcourt, Rivers State from Brass Local Government Area of Bayelsa State when the kidnappers attacked her.
The kidnappers had blocked the vehicle in which she was traveling and abducted her, the driver and her maid at gunpoint.
