Rampaging gunmen have invaded the Police Divisional Headquarters in Agwa, Oguta Local Government Area of Imo State.
The attack took place on Friday night.
The Network gathered that four police officers attached to the division were killed in the attack.
It was gathered that the hoodlums burnt down part of the headquarters of the police division and some vehicles parked in the premises.
The Police Spokesman confirmed the unfortunate incident to journalists but did not give further details.
However, the Network gathered those that died include two male policemen and two females who were newly posted to the division.
The source said that the two females policemen were killed in their sleep and burnt completely.
It further gathered that two civilians were also killed after the savage attack on the Agwa Police Division.
Abatham was quoted as saying that Commissioner of Police, Mohammed Barde, had visited the scene of the attack and assured the people to go about their normal duties as the police had commenced investigation into the matter.
Meanwhile, there are unconfirmed reports that there is a major ongoing security operation in Izombe, Oguta Local Government Area as a result of the murder of the policemen.
It was learnt that buildings, shop’s and vehicles are affected in the security operation led Ebubeagu with the backing of the state government.
It was learnt that Ugbele and Umuokwu villages in Izombe are the the theater of the ongoing operation.
A source who spoke to the Network said that the security operatives got the intelligence that the attackers moved to Izombe after set the police division on fire and killing the policemen.
