News Investigators/ Gombe State Governor, Inuwa Yahaya, has secured the All Progressive Congress (APC) ticket, to contest the Gombe-North senatorial district election in 2027.
The APC also declared Ahmed Muhammed and Jerry Damara, as its flagbearers for the Gombe-Central and Gombe-South senatorial elections, respectively.
Mr Yahaya emerged winner after scoring 131,009 votes in the party’s direct primaries while Muhammed polled 89,450 votes and Damara garnered 56,687 votes, respectively.
Labiru Kafur, Chairman, APC Primary Election Committee, announced the results on Tuesday in Gombe.
He said the exercise was conducted on Monday in a peaceful and transparent manner among card-carrying party members in line with its guidelines.
Mr Kafur said the results from polling units were transferred to designated collation centres in the three districts for final compilation and declaration.
He said the declaration for Gombe-North senatorial district was held at the Kwami Local Government Council Secretariat, and Gombe-Central at the Akko LGC secretariat, and Gombe-South at Kaltungo LGC secretariat.
The chairman said the candidates satisfied the statutory requirements and secured the highest number of valid votes cast in their respective districts.
“The committee stands by these decentralised field declarations, which confirm them as the official APC flag bearers for the general election.”
