News Investigators/ The All Progressives Congress (APC) Publicity Secretary in Niger, Musa Sarkinkaji, says nine consensus candidates for the state assembly primaries have so far emerged.
Speaking on Tuesday in an exclusive interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Mr Sarkinkaji said the consensus was reached through Niger State Governor, Umaru Bago’s efforts to reconcile aspirants amicably.
He added that discussions were ongoing with aspirants in the remaining 18 state constituencies to adopt consensus arrangements.
Mr Sarkinkaji stated that if consensus fails, the party woukd conduct free and fair direct primaries.
“The party has made all necessary preparations to ensure a smooth and seamless exercise, whether through direct primaries or consensus,” he said.
The APC spokesman urged party members to remain orderly, warning that the party would not tolerate any act of indiscipline or sabotage.
He commended Mr Bago for his continued support for the party and for reconciling aspirants to produce consensus candidates.
