Ghana’s Ruling Party Concession Of Defeat, Victory For Democracy—Ossai

News Investigators/ Nicholas Ossai, ex-member of House of Representatives says concession of defeat by the incumbent Vice-President Mahamudu Bawumia to opposition candidate, John Mahama is victory for democracy.

Mr Ossai said this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja on Monday.

He described Ghana’s democratisation process as exemplary one compared to other African countries.

“Ghana has shown that it is truly on a democratization process when a defeated incumbent concedes defeat.

“He goes on to congratulate the winner despite the flaws in the electoral process because no electoral process is flawless,” he said.

The former lawmaker called on other African nations to emulate Ghana.

According to Ossai, Ghana has shown that it is ahead of many countries in Africa in the democratisation process.

He explained that the victory of opposition and concession of defeat by the ruling party was a testament of Ghana’s adaptation of democratic cultures.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Bawumia of New Patriotic Party (NPP) on Sunday conceded defeat in the 2024 presidential election to Mahama of National Democratic Congress (NDC).
