Fuel scarcity: Tinubu Resumes Duty At Aso Rock, Meets With Gbajabiamila, Emefiele, Kyari

President Bola Tinubu on Tuesday, resumed duty with a meeting with the governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, Mr Godwin Emefiele and the Group Chief Executive Officer, of the Nigeria National Petroleum Company Limited, NNPCL, Mr. Mele Kyari at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

The President was inaugurated on Monday and the meeting was his first official assignment as the 16th President of the country.

Tinubu arrived at the forecourt of the State House at about 2:30 pm, through the quarter guard gate, which is his official entrance gate.

He was received by the Vice President, Senator Kashim Shettima, the Permanent Secretary, State House, Tijjani Umar, Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila and the outgoing Director of Protocol, DOP.

Also the Governor of CBN, Mr Godwin Emefiele, the GCEO of NNPCL, Mr Kyari, a member of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. James Faleke, among others were part of the party that welcomed his to Aso-Villa.

After pleasantries, the President moved straight to his office with Emefiele, Kyari, Gbajabiamila, Faleke and others.

It was gathered that the agenda of the meeting was not made public; but there are speculations that the meeting focused on the removal of fuel subsidies, the attendant fuel scarcity, the issue of unification of foreign exchange, and the recent Naira Redesign among others

President Tinubu his inaugural speech on Monday announced the removal of oil subsidy, stating that the regime of oil subsidy is gone.

The announcement immediately caused panic buying and subsequent shutting down filling stations and long queues.
