Former Iranian Foreign Minister Dies Of Wounds Sustained In Airstrike

News Investigators/ Former Iranian foreign minister Kamal Kharrazi has died from wounds sustained in an airstrike, Iranian state media reported early on Friday.

Kharrazi, head of the Strategic Council on Foreign Relations, was injured days earlier in an Israeli-U.S. airstrike, the state news agency IRNA reported, saying he “was martyred a few hours ago.”

Kharrazi was the foreign minister of the Islamic Republic from 1997 to 2005.

Most recently, he had served as an adviser to long-time Iranian supreme leader ayatollah Ali Khamenei, according to media reports. Khamenei was killed at the start of the U.S. and Israeli strikes on Iran.
