News Investigators/ President Muhammadu Buhari has appointed Farouk Yahaya as the new Chief of Army Staff.
Mr. Yahaya, a major general, was the General Officer Commanding 1 Division of the Nigerian Army and the incumbent Theatre Commander of the Counter Terrorism Counter Insurgency military outfit in the North East, code named Operation HADIN KAI.
Acting Director of Army Information, Onyema Nwachukwu, a Brigadier General, announced the appointment in a statement on Thursday.
His emergency as substantive COAS has put paid to rumours of appointment of Danjuma Alli-Keffi as acting COAS.
He becomes Nigeria’s 27th Chief of Army Staff after the death of Attahiru Ibrahim who died in plane crash last week.
