News Investigators/ Several experts have lauded President Bola Tinubu’s achievements over the past three years in the areas of education, security, employment, and youth empowerment.
The experts gave the commendation in separate interviews with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Tuesday in Pankshin, Plateau, ahead of the country’s 66th Independence anniversary.
According to them, while the country may still be facing some challenges, the gains recorded by the Tinubu-led administration cannot be overemphasised.
Prof. Anthonia Chukwu, Deputy Vice-Chancellor Academics at the Federal University of Education, Pankshin, said the President had done exceptionally well in the education sector.
“Over the years, our institutions of learning were marred by incessant industrial actions, where students knew their matriculation dates but were never certain about their convocation.
“Today, that era is gone because this administration has prioritised education and staff welfare by meeting most of the needs that triggered industrial actions among university staff in the past.
“When university staff are well motivated, productivity improves, which ultimately reflects in the lives of the students,” she said.
Chukwu added that the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) intervention by the Tinubu-led administration was a huge achievement in the lives of many young people and parents.
“This intervention has paved the way for parents who are not financially buoyant to send their children to school.
“It creates an opportunity for youths who are passionate about learning to acquire a higher education. We must commend the President for this excellent initiative,” she added.
Chukwu said that she had seen many people in the community enrolled in school, adding that this achievement alone truly gladdened her heart.
She said, the President understood that by educating the youth, he was educating the community and the country by extension.
Similarly, CSP Zopzak Mise, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of the Pankshin Division, said he was not authorised to speak on the President’s achievements in security on a national level.
Mise, however, said he could only speak regarding his own division.
According to him the President has made security his top priority by giving the necessary support to the country’s security chiefs which in turn has trickled down to the communities.
He said though it would be difficult to eliminate insecurity entirely, it had been suppressed to the barest minimum compared to what it used to be.
He noted President had been recruiting many youths into various security agencies to protect the lives and property of every citizen.
Mise said this decision had enhanced the security system of both the community and the country in general, reduced the crime rate, and served as an employment opportunity for many young people.
He added that his division, in particular, was now safe for people to go about their lawful businesses without fear of criminal activities.
On her part, Ms. Peculiar Lokrit, a trader, said the achievement she could speak on was the Presidential Conditional Grant Scheme, which was supporting small-scale traders.
“I am talking about it because I benefited from the intervention, along with many other people I know.
“These funds really kept many of us in business. It may not be much, but with discipline, we nurtured it to what it is today,” she said.
