The scheduled meeting between the senate and military services chiefs is currently going on at the National Assembly.
The meeting was called to enable senators take informed position on the request by President Goodluck Jonathan for an extension of the state of emergency in the affected three north east states.
The security chiefs who arrived the National Assembly at about 10 am, are to brief the senators on the security situations in Borno, Yobe and Adamawa vis-à-vis the effectiveness or otherwise of the emergency rule that had been in operation for one year.
President Jonathan had written to the senate to secure their approval for an extension.
