By Sadiq Umar – Former Senate Leader and frontline candidate in the ninth Senate presidency race, Senator Mohammed Ali Ndume, has urged Muslims Ummah in Nigeria to continue to work for the peace and progress of the nation.
Senator Ndume said it is important for all Muslims to continue to live a life of purity and sobriety for the betterment of the society in accordance with the inherent values of Eid el-Fitri.
In a goodwill message personally signed by him, the Former Senate Leader expressed gratitude to Allah for the successful completion of the obligatory fasting in the holy month of Ramadan, saying this year’s celebration should be seen not just as an occasion for spiritual renewal for Muslims but also for all Nigerians, irrespective of faith, to come together for the common good of the nation.
Senator Ndume enjoins Muslims to imbibe the lessons of Ramadan, especially in showing kindness, forgiveness, sharing with and caring for fellowman, that usually dominate it.
According to him, all these are noteworthy values that promote brotherliness, love and unity among the people and ensure rapid progress and development.
“We must as a people continue to strive to work for the collective good of our nation in an atmosphere of peace. We must collectively work for our peaceful coexistence regardless of the challenges that seek to divide us as a people. We must be our brother’s keeper,” he added.
“We must continue to work together as one for the good of our nation and collective well-being of our people,” he stated.
