By Sadiq Umar, Abuja – A former Governor of Akwa Ibom State and Senate Minority Leader, Godswill Akpabio, was on Friday held by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over allegation of fraud.


Mr. Akpabio was being quizzed for allegedly misappropriating a sum of N108.1billion when he was governor of Akwa Ibom.
His arrest, Friday evening News Investigators learnt, was following a petition written by an Abuja based lawyer, Leo Ekpenyong, who accused the senate minority leader of misappropriation of the said amount during his tenure.
Mr. Akpabio, it was further learnt arrive the Maitama head office of the anti-graft agency at about 5.20 pm. in company of some aides and his lawyer.
He was still being held as at the time of filing this report.
