EEDC Laments Loss of Revenue Due To IPOB’s Sit-At-Home In Southeast

Management of the Enugu Electricity Distribution Company Plc has lamented l huge revenue loss due to the three days sit-at-home order by members of the Indigenous People of Biafara from Monday to Wednesday last week.

It pointed out that the ugly development nearly paralyzed the company’s revenue collections drive.

Head of Corporate Communications, EEDC, Mr. Emeka Ezeh, said in a statement issued on Monday that the company lost huge amount of money during period covered by sit at home in the zone.

He said the company would embark on an intensive revenue drive across its franchise area.

Eze said that the exercise would take off on Tuesday, 25th January and end on Saturday, 29th January, 2022.

“The revenue drive is to enable the company to cover up for the lost days in the month of January, as a result of the sit-at-home order and the insecurity situation in the South East, a development that has impacted greatly on its revenue and efficient operation.

“Last week, we did not open from Monday to Thursday…Imagine the effect on our operations. We could not even go out to clear faults during the period. We did not go for disconnection daily, and customers could not come to pay their bills.

He said the exercise will entail visits by officials of the company to its customers for the payment of their energy bills, as well as disconnection of those that are indebted.

He appealed to customers to cooperate with the officials that would be visiting their premises during the period of the drive.
