DSS OBTAINS COURT PERMIT TO TO HOLD BANDITS’ NEGOTIATOR, MAMU FOR TWO MONTHS

The Department of State Services (DSS), has obtained a court permit to further detain the former terrorists’ negotiator, Tukur Mamu, for additional two more months.

A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja, on Tuesday granted the secret police the order after it applied for permission to hold the self-nominated hostage negotiator.

Justice Nkeonye Maha ruled on the ex-parte motion moved by counsel for the DSS, Ahmed Magaji.

The DSS, in the motion marked: FHC/ABJ/CS/1617/2022 dated and filed Sept. 12, had prayed the court to grant its reliefs to enable it to conclude its investigation on Mamu.

Recall that the suspect self-acclaimed negotiator had been leading the negotiation with the terrorists for the release of the Abuja-Kaduna train passengers kidnaped in March.

It would be recalled that Mamu was arrested by foreign security agents in Cairo, Egypt on September 6 and was detained before being repatriated back to Nigeria.

However, the DSS, on Sunday, cautioned the public against making comments on its arrest of Mamu.

DSS Spokesman, Peter Afunaya, urged Nigerians to leave the Agency, alone and allow it to concentrate on the investigations, the outcome of which, it said, was “mind-boggling.”

The popular Islamic cleric, Sheik Gumi, the boss of Mamu, described the arrest of his aide as faulty, adding that the DSS should charge Mamu to court if it had any evidence against him rather than keeping him in custody.
