News Investigators/ Former presidential spokesman, Doyin Okupe, has died. He died at Euracare Hospital, Victoria Island, Lagos in the early hours of Friday, 15days to his March 22 birthday.
Mr. Okupe, a medical doctor-turned politician, passed on at 72 after a protracted cancer ailment.
He was the National Publicity Secretary of National Republican Convention (NRC) in the aborted Third Republic.
In this Fourth Republic, Mr. Okupe served as Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to former President Olusegun Obasanjo.
He also worked as Senior Special Assistant on Public Affair to former President Goodluck Jonathan.
During the 2023 general elections, Mr. Okupe served as the Director-General of Labour Party’s Presidential candidate, Peter Obi.
But he stepped down from Obi’s campaign in December 2022 following a money laundering conviction.
He later resigned from the Labour Party after the 2023 general elections.
