Obasanjo who met behind closed door with Buhari at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, said there should be no hurry in budget signing, dismissing National Assembly’s claim that it signed budget without its details while in office.

Speaking with State House Correspondents after the meeting, he said he was at the State House to share the experiences of his recent international engagement with the President Buhari.

Responding to reporter’s question, the former President said: “You know that not too long ago, I was out there. I have come to share some of my experiences with the president.”

Obasanjo who would not speak further on what the experiences were retorted, “Ha! Ha! If I say I shared experiences with my wife, you will ask me wetin I talk with my wife?

Asked about claim by the National Assembly that he signed budgets without seeing the details while in office, he said “I signed budget without details? Anybody who told you that, go and ask him again.”

When asked on his comment on the 2016 Budget which has generated controversies so far, he said, “Before I will be able to tell you something about the budget, I have to read it and know what it contains and know what to talk about.”

On the delay in signing the budget by President Buhari he noted that the constitution allows the president to continue with the budget provided he did not go beyond the previous year adding that can be done up to the middle of the year.

On the Code of Conduct Tribunal trial of Senate President Bukola Saraki, he said, “Eh en? What is happening to him?”
